Flascheguard fenders are made from recycled water cooler bottles

Water cooler bottles are tough to recycle, so most end up stuck in storage, dumped in landfills, or incinerated.

So we found a better way forward.

Background

The plastic in large water cooler bottles (polycarbonate, recycling #7) is typically one of the most difficult plastics to recycle. Only a fraction of recycling facilities are able to recycle it, so most polycarbonates end up in landfills, bundled and stored, waiting for a recycler that will do something with them or eventually be incinerated.

We wanted to put this material to use.

Our recycled polycarbonate retains the same strength and durability as virgin polycarbonate and is free of Bisphenol-A (BPA) for a reliable responsibly sourced solution. For every tonne of Flascheguard material produced, almost a tonne of CO2 emissions is prevented and end-of-life plastic is kept out of landfills or incinerators.

Making Waste Work Harder

Sustainable materials give you better options — for your ride and for the planet. Every Flascheguard fender uses reclaimed and recycled materials, turning waste into durable gear and cutting down on emissions. Less waste + more performance = a win for everyone.

Recycled Polycarbonate

Flascheguard fenders are made from recycled water cooler bottles – a material that uses up to 75% less crude oil than virgin polycarbonate plastic.

Recycled Stainless Steel

All Axiom fender stays are made with recycled stainless-steel that comes from manufacturing and consumer scraps. Stainless steel is infinitely recyclable, without degrading the material. Recycling stainless steel requires up to 67% less energy than creating new material and reduces CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions by more than 70%.
